Captain Gopinath's plane crashes

When our reporter and photographer visited the residence of Captain Gopinath, they were greeted by pin drop silence because there was apparently nobody at home, except Captain Gopinath himself.

He was watching the election news on TV and in a coincidence of sorts, just as MiD DAY's reporter entered his house, the anchor on TV announced that Ananth Kumar had won from Bangalore South.

When this news broke, Captain Gopinath was perturbed and asked our reporter by what margin Ananth Kumar had won.

When our reporter told him that Ananth Kumar had won by 35,000 votes, Captain Gopinath said "kammi ayitu" (it was less).

However, he was not disheartened and said that he was in politics for the long term.

He said that to him it was a symbolic contest and that he represented change.

Not wishing to rest on the thorns of defeat, Captain Gopinath says that he is now looking forward to the BBMP polls and wants to fight to provide better infrastructure to Bangalore.
