Employee collects lakhs in advance from customers for Nano, disappears with money
L Manohar, a salesman at the prestigious Concorde Car showroom on Hosur Road, cheated six customers of lakhs of rupees. Manohar had also been cheating his employers by booking cars on the company name and selling them at a premium without the knowledge of his seniors.u00a0
The Concorde management has refused to refund the cheated customers.u00a0
Joint Managing Director Kumaran Arul of Arul Rubbers Private Limited, Hosur, filed a complaint with Adugodi police. According to police records, he had booked a Nano with L Manohar, on September 18, and paid Rs 50,000 as advance.
In the first week of October, Manohar called up Arul and asked him to pay up the balance. Arul paid the balance Rs 1.5 lakh and an additional Rs 15,000 asked for by Manohar, who assured him the car would be delivered within a week.
Manohar said he was handing Arul a handwritten receipt, and said he would send a proper receipt as soon as the company computer was repaired. A week later Arul called Manohar but found that his mobile was switched off. Arul went to the Concorde showroom and discovered that Manohar had run away after cheating six customers. "Concorde wants me to get the original receipt if I want a refund. Manohar did not give one to me," Arul reportedly told the police.
Manohar has been absent from work without notice since October 31. His colleagues discovered that he had give a fake address to the company.
Satish Kumar, sales executive, Concorde, said, "Manohar cheated six persons. We can't comment further on this issue as the case is under investigations."
Senior executives at Concorde as well as Arul refused to comment. "I don't want to take this issue to the media," Arul told this reporter.
