Chef Baker's at Indiranagar is really a cafe in disguise of a bakery with sandwiches, pizzas and even dessert pasta on offer

The chain of bakers called Chef Baker's has opened its fifth branch in Indiranagar and we dropped by to sample their claim of the best pastries in town. And we admit we did come back feeling spoilt for choice.

Chef Bakers
Food: great
Service: simple
Ambience: prompt

Olive Focaccia Sandwich

The ambience is simple, looking almost sterile with the use of white almost everywhere including the walls and the crockery. The dessert counter is a tempting sight with an array of gooey, delicious and colourful desserts for anybody with a sweet tooth.

We decided to start the meal with a dessert and opted for a Bread Butter Pudding (Rs 50) and this we were later to discover would turn out to be the best part of the meal. The pudding was a perfect layer ofu00a0 trembling souffle with a bread crust bottom and dusted with cinnamon sugar.

Tender, mildly sweet and crusty, the pudding can take you back into childhood memories. For the main course you can choose from options like sandwiches, pizzas, pastas, savoury crepes, burgers, lasagna and more. We sampled the Olive Focaccia sandwich (Rs 110) and Al Fredo pasta (Rs 175). The sandwich came stuffed with corn, capsicum, oodles of mayonnaise and traces of olives. Soft on the bite and bland save for the capsicum, this one works great for a light meal.

The pasta was a plateful with generous white sauce, shredded chicken and flavoured with herbs. What we really liked were the sides of garlic bread, fresh, crunchy and sprinkled with the right amount of garlic, toasted to perfection. Next came the rather intriguing Dessert Pasta (Rs 90). If the thought of dessert and pasta together makes you cringe, this is a must try to drive the misconception of a disaster away.

Thick, ribbon cut pasta doused in chocolate sauce came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream at its centre and garnished with tinned pear and peaches. The dish worked well with all its ingredients giving us a chilled sweet and tanginess together. Chef Baker's though a bakery gives you enough options for a quick meal and keeps you wanting more of the desserts.
