Celebration, confusion at India Gate

Even before Misbah-ul-Haq's shot landed in the safe hands of Virat Kohli, Delhiites, who had remained glued to the TV sets throughout the evening, were bursting crackers, distributing sweets and beating drums.

India Gate was abuzz with activity; the roundabout was choked as revellers went on a virtual rampage. Mostly college students including Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) members were driving cars and bikes.

Boys and girls wearing red horns, carrying beer bottles danced atop car roofs and on the ground to the beats of the desi dhol. "I had bet that India will win.

We'llu00a0 get the world cup too," said Raghav Bansal, a Khalsa College student. The celebrations led to jams at nearby ITO and New Delhi areas.
