Led by party president Mehbooba Mufti, PDP legislators started shouting slogans like 'Produce the killers of Shopian' as the Assembly session began here.
Four police officers have been accused of destruction of evidence and dereliction of duty in the rape and murder of pregnant Nilofar January 22, and her sister-in-law Asiya January 17, who were found dead off a stream in Shopian town May 30.
After repeated requests by Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone failed to restore order, he ordered the marshals to take the protesting PDP legislators out of the House.
Pandemonium continued in the Assembly till the PDP legislators were taken out of the House.
Before the Assembly security staff led them out, the PDP legislators gathered near the speaker's podium and Mehbooba Mufti even tried to fling a microphone at the speaker.
"The government is trying to protect the killers involved in the Shopian rape and murder case," she told reporters outside the Assembly.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and National Panthers Party legislators also protested in the House, demanding the allotment of a proposed central university to the Jammu region.
