Pune is fast emerging as an animation and gaming hotspot. Commodore Anand Khandekar, the chairman of Animation and Gaming Committee, Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), says three Pune realtors, including Satish Magar, who has already announced an animation and gaming zone spread over 45 acres in Nanded city on Sinhgad road, have shown interest in building animation and gaming parks in the city.

"Gaming companies from Canada, which constitute 80 per cent of the total gaming industry worldwide, and
some companies from UK have shown interest in opening shop here," Khandekar added.

Pune has 35 institutes, six animation studios and eight gaming companies, including DSK Supinfogame, SQS India, UB Soft, Dhruva International and Jump Games.

The MCCIA is organising a gaming event titled Game-Storm 2009 on March 28 at the MCCIA-ICC complex.
