The road department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had blamed incessant rains for the bad condition of city roads, and had promised that repair work will be carried out as soon as the rains stop.

Under control
“The situation was under control in two-and-half hours. Fortunately, no mishap occurred,” Dhangekar said adding that it the fault of civic engineers who didn’t mix the tar and dust properly.

“Ideally, before asphalting the roads, the contractors are expected to have a detailed map of underground cables, water lines etc. Unfortunately, neither the contractor, nor PMC cares about it,” alleged Vijay Kumbhar, a RTI activist said.
