Mozaic, Bandra's latest plush lifestyle design store set inside a lovely old bungalow, is an experience in itself. Drop in just to browse, if not to shop

Bit by bit, Mozaic lures you into its plush interiors. A far cry from the bustling traffic and honking on busy Turner Road, this store (if it's ok to call it that when it sits pretty in a sprawling bungalow, complete with alcoves) has a lot of offer if you have the money and know where to look (quite literally, given that every nook and corner is crammed with interesting furniture or accessories).

Or, they'll have to approach a carpenter with a particular vision, and hope for it to get executed according to plan. At Mozaic, practically everything can be customised to your liking. Or, you can walk in with a vision of your ideas, and we can set up a meeting with one of our in-house designers who will explain the technicalities and get you started, complete with a theme and information and help with sourcing and design," Shilpa elaborates.

From glass flowers and a cluster of heart-shaped mirrors to a giant purple throne embedded with Swarovski crystals, the stuff at the store is gawk-worthy, no doubt. We particularly loved the inviting Lotus floor seat (Rs 15,100), the set of funky Simpsons-themed coasters (Rs 700, set of four) and an antique swan-shaped napkin holder (Rs 11,00).

If you've got a serious budget and a mean home makeover mission, check out the chest of drawers engraved in French (Rs 75,000) and an exquisite Springtime hand-painted couch (Rs 51,000) that we were almost too afraid to sit on for fear of spoiling it.

That apart, Mozaic also offers wall 'treatments', a shinier approach to the now-common wall textures that find pride of place in most focal walls in people's homes, interesting art pieces, other home accessories and a gift registry service that will ensure you don't get 16 tea sets and 12 of the same lamps on your wedding/anniversary.

AT: Mozaic, Victory Villa, next to Bank of India, Turner Road, Bandra (West).
