Jain and Lodha were taken to JJ Hospital after complaints of chest pain and bouts of vomiting blood respectively. While they are undergoing treatment in the ICCU, sources in the hospital said both are fit and that they have faked illness.
Meanwhile, doctor treating the duo said they would reach a conclusion only after they evaluate their medical reports, which will be out today.
Dr Hemant Gupta, senior physician at the General Medicine Unit, said, “As both of them are ill, it’s our duty to monitor them for 48 hours and then discharge them if they are found to be fit. Jain complained of hypertension with giddiness, and has a history of hyperthyroid and diabetes.
He has also undergone angioplasty in the past. While Lodha complained of abdominal pain, and is a patient of hypotension. Both the patients are critical and hence have been admitted to the ICCU.”
Dr Gupta said that as both are prisoners, it is mandatory for the hospital to admit them to the ICCU. Doctors will evaluate their medical reports on Monday morning and if found to be fit, they will be discharged.
Both the convicts were sentenced to five years in jail in a 13-year-old bribery case and were to serve their sentence at Arthur Road Jail.u00a0
