Delhi police officer caught impersonating a Gurgaon police official
A Delhi cop was arrested by Gurgaon police for allegedly stealing a gold ring from a jewellery shop.
The incident was reported on Thursday at around 11 am in Sector 5 area of Gurgaon.The constable is identified as Satish and is attached to a PCR in Connaught Place. He was on seven days leave.
"At around 11am a man in police uniform came to my shop and identified himself as Ramveer Singh, posted as constable at sector 5 police station. He asked me to show few rings for his wife. He chose one of the rings and said he will pay later. But when he was leaving the shop I saw that his bike doesn't have any registration no. Which made me suspicious and I called the police," said Ram Kumar, the shop owner and complainant.
The Gurgaon police have informed their counterparts in Delhi about the arrest of constable. He has been booked under sections 379 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are on in the case.
The Delhi police confirmed receiving the information but they refused to reveal the identity of the constable.
"We are verifying the story on our side. If he would be found guilty, the constable would not be spared. We are waiting for the chance to question him," said a senior Delhi police officer.
