Twenty-nine Mumbai youngsters will forever remember their friend's birthday party in Lonavla yesterday, albeit for wrong reasons. The youths, who were partying in a flat in Vanrai Society, near Roywood Park, were arrested early morning yesterday for drinking without a permit and creating a public nuisance.
Rebuffed warning
Superintendent of Police Ravindra Kadam said that the group comprising 19 boys and 10 girls had been drinking and smoking at the party. They had also installed a music system, which blared really loud music. When the party went on late into the night, neighbours in the society asked them to stop as they were being disturbed.
However, the partygoers ignored them. Fed up, the neighbours called the police. "We warned them twice that they should stop the late night party, as it was creating a nuisance for others. And when they did not listen, we had no option but to arrest them," said Kadam. The cops also seized liquor bottles and the music system.
Added Kadam, "We arrested them under various sections which include drinking without permit, indecent behavior in a public place and creating public nuisance. They were produced before the court in Wadgaon Maval and were remanded to police custody for a day."
