After successfully nabbing killers of the kidnapped Bescom engineer, the city police have set up a special team equipped with latest gadgets to track and arrest criminals

After they successfully cracked a kidnap and murder case of a BESCOM engineer in record time, the Cubbon Park sub division has set up a tech team, which they say, will help them keep track on similar cases.

ACP D Devraj, who led the team, said that they managed to arrest the accused within 12 hours, using mobile tracking technique. "This proved very effective, otherwise it would have been difficult to solve the case," he said.

The Cubbon Park police just had a single lead in the form of a mobile number of the victim, which the kidnappers were using. Without wasting time, they formed a team and started tracking the call details.

"We have managed to get three mobile numbers which the kidnappers had frequently called," Devraj explained, adding that the details of these numbers were quickly obtained.

Armed with the residential address the police picked up three persons whom the kidnappers had called, and from them, they obtained the kidnappers' identities and their location.

A team kept close watch on the location of the kidnappers, while another team waited on the highway looking for the accused. The hard work finally paid off, when they were finally nabbed.

"This whole operation was successful only with mobile tracking technology. We have decided that this could be used for each and every case for quick results," Devraj said, adding that this facility was so far available only with the Central Crime Branch.

Devraj said that a team of two sub inspectors and a few other constables have been deputed on the job exclusively to trail suspects.
