Police arrest three men infamous for their style of arriving on motorbikes, committing crimes and vamoosing from the scene
Theu00a0'Dhoom gang' who were notorious for their involvement in at least 15 cases of murder, extortion, rioting and other body offence in Nigdi, Pimpri and Chinchwad were arrested yesterday by sleuths of the Crime Branch, Pune. The gang was named so for their unique modus operandi of ambush using bikes. The three were: Kudrat Khan (30), a resident of Kalakhadak Slum, who has eight cases registered against him, Rahul Khune (20), a resident of Vetalnagar, with three cases registered against him and Santosh Dakle alias Gundya (21), resident of Vetalnagar, who has 13 cases registered against him. A team led by Bhanupratap Barge, Senior Police Inspector and the social security cell arrested the three based on a tip off from informants of the police Nyak, Pradip Jambhale and Kashinath Ubhe.

The gang members were nabbed at Moraya Udyan in Chinchwad. "The gang was named so because of its modus operandi of sudden attack and use of bikes. They were involved in murders, attempts to murder, extortion, robberies, dacoities and have also been booked in the past for rioting. All the three arrested started committing offences when they were minors," Barge said. "Khune recently passed the HSC exams, while Khan was working as a painter and the key culprit Dakale alias Gundya was working as a rickshaw driver."
Terrorised locals
Police sources said the gang members used to terrorise residents in Nigdi, Pimpri and Chinchwad. They used to come on bikes commit the crime and flee, a source said.u00a0"On June 15, the three had attacked one Prashant Chavan, a resident of Chinchwad, and extorted money from him. The case has now been transferred to Chinchwad police station for further investigation," Borge said.u00a0Police sources said the three were preparing to murder a scrap vendor in the Pimpri area. The police have recovered sharp weapons and iron rods from the three.
