Corporator to CM: Give Rs 5 L to next of kin

Dr Siddhartha Dhende, the corporator from Panel No 4 in Yerawada, has sent a fax to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan demanding compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased. Dhende said the fax was sent to Chief Minister Chavan’s office.

“The Chief Minister was in Delhi so we could not talk to him,” he said.

The Yerawada Hospital’s association has also come forward to bear the treatment charges of six accident patients — five children and one 24-year-old woman who were shifted to the city yesterday. The patients were undergoing treatment at Ashtavinayak Hospital in Panvel. Brothers Rupesh (8) and Ganesh (12), Chakuli Manjare (1) and Akash Gaikawad (6) were shifted to Shaha Accident hospital near Neeta Park in Yerawada.

Two patients, Sheetal Mali (24) and her one-year-old son Ayush were shifted to Jeevanjyot Hospital.

“We are concerned about the patients well-being. And we will see to it that patients are fit,” Dr Solanki said.

Solanki said members of the association, Dr Milind Walunjkar, Dr Nitin Shaha and Dr Ravindra Kapale, will jointly bear the cost of medical treatment of six patients.u00a0
