Consumers who submitted required documents to food and civic supplies department have been left in limbo, as government remains silent about next step
In a bid to crack down bogus gas connections, government had asked people to present valid documents to LPG agencies. However, it's about a month that people have submitted the required papers, there's no clear clue on what the government will do next.
The big Fizz: Except for collecting the documents on February 28, the
department of food and civil supplies has not done anything so far.

The administration had published a notice on January 19 informing consumers to submit scanned copies of APL ration card, electricity bill and a copy of the LPG card to gas agencies within 10 days. Due to low response, the deadline was extended to February 28.
Sadanand, manager of Indane Gas Agencies (Gajanana Enterprises) said, "Except for collecting the documents from us on February 28, the department of food and civil supplies has done nothing so far. The consumers, with great difficulty, managed to submit the necessary documents and now they have to wait to know if any action will follow."
Rajeshwari Patil, a homemaker said, "Afraid of losing my connection, I rushed to the gas agency and submitted the required documents. After that I have not received any acknowledgment. It's almost a month and there is still no news from the state food and civic supplies department."
"We had installed a drop box and had informed consumers that providing acknowledgment would be difficult. We cannot stop supply of cylinders if consumers do not provide documents. We have 4,800 customers in HSR Layout, 85 per cent of customers have submitted the documents," said, Girish manager of HP gas connection (Maruthi Gas Company).
Speaking to MiD DAY, N Satyan, secretary, All India Distributors Federation (Karnataka circle) said, "Various gas agencies have forwarded the same to Karnataka state department of food and civil supplies. Simply collecting documents will not suffice."
Satyan added that the department would need to authenticate data, which could prove difficult. After discussions with the central government, the state department of food and civil supplies will take action.
