The CET results have brought good news for students awaiting the outcome with baited breath. With counselling just around the corner, many are wondering what the cutoffs would be this year.
Admission experts from various colleges predict that with the good turnout this year, the cutoffs too would rise considerably.

There will be enough seats for good courses in all top colleges," said Kirthiraj Laggeri, who had been tracking counselling for 10 years now.
Set to go up
Each year, top city institutes set strict cutoffs for courses like Mechanical, Computer Science (CS) and Electronics and Communication (E&C).
Deputy Registrar Admissions at the MS Ramaiah College of Engineering, Pramila Devi informed, "Depending on the demand and popularity of each course, the cutoffs too vary. This year the cutoffs will increase by about 5-8 per cent."
With an increase being predicted, what does this mean for students? This surely means that the counselling will provide students with a 90 per cent chance to choose a course of their preference without much trouble.
Chain reaction
"The fact is that the CET valuations have become more liberal. Which is why, a 99 per cent in CET today is as good as a 60 per cent five years ago. That is why over 500 students over all, get above 98 per cent in CET," said Headhunters CEO Kris Lakshmikanth.
Future in view
Students too are elated at the turn of events and are lining up outside colleges for academic advice.
"This year, the course which would be profitable professionally five years from now, is in demand.
Computer Science is one of the best with Bangalore making a global impact in the IT sector. I will be choosing that too," said Anand Raj, a student of Mahaveer Jain PU College, who has secured the 99th rank.
