The CM's stay follows complaints by some MLAs, who reportedly said they should have been consulted before the list of officers to be transferred, was prepared.

The CM is believed to be upset with Dr Ajai Kumar Singh because he allegedly ignored orders to consult the MLAs before issuing transfer orders.
Singh's move resulted in a loss of face for the MLAs, who wanted their favourite officers in their constituencies.
Sources in the home department added that two board members had opposed the transfer orders, but Singh who is also the chairman of the board did not consider their suggestions.
"The board claims the transfers were being made on the basis of seniority but when Singh himself was promoted to the post ofu00a0 DGP over two senior officers, he had not objected," said a police officer who was upset with the transfer orders.
Upset with the CM's orders, Singh applied for leave on Tuesday. Singh remained unavailable for comment, despite repeated efforts to reach him.

Sources in the CM's office said that the transfers were stopped due to upcoming MLC elections.

"This is why the CM issued instructions through the master control room to all officials asking them not to assume the new posts till further orders," the source explained.
