Blanca's enquiring engagement with the dynamic journey of the human spirit across physical and political boundaries into personal, cross-cultural adaptations results in expressions of love, play, exuberance, simplicity and peace. Her series pays tribute to the profound mimetic links between her motherland, India and other world cultures. Throughout her work, whether graphite, charcoal, pastel or pencil, or oil or acrylic, lies a reference to the metaphysical plane, that which she seeks to convey, inviting its spirit to manifest itself upon the hither-before blank space of the picture plane. Profound, huh!

Kodo protocol
Peralta's fascination with Japanese aesthetics blossomed as a little girl, when she was smitten by stories told to her by a family that lived there. In June 2008, she finally arrived in Kyoto - beginning her sojourn through Gifu, Tokyo and Sado Island. "I saw the principles of Zen unfold in the 'Kodo' practice and performance," says Peralta, referring to the elite-drumming troupe based in Sado Island. Her powerful, multi-hued paintings expose the fertile tension between the prim reserve of Japan's public life and the wild abandon of individuals' private fantasies. Take a trip.
