On June 17, four men killed Kukreja after a brawl in Duru Bar at Ulhasnagar. The police have arrested Shekhar Yadav (45), Kishan Donglekar (23), Sunil Chikne, Sunil Jadhav alias Nigro alias Lottery and bar manager Dev Kumar Shetty.
On Friday, Kukreja’s sister-in-law Rekha, and his brother, Govind, met Raghuvanshi and submitted a written complaint demanding a CID enquiry.
“We met Raghuvanshi and gave him the letter. He assured us that the matter will be investigated by the CID. We will also meet Home Rinister RR Patil. If all else fails, we will approach the high court,” said Rekha.
Thirty four year-old Rekha said the police have recorded false statements of the eyewitness, Suresh Bhagchandani. Govind added that his brother too, was at Taal Bar in Kalyan till 1.30 am. After that, Rajesh dropped Govind, and went to Duru Bar, where he was later killed. Rekha said, in spite of a police nakabandi on the night of Kukreja’s murder, the accused were roaming with choppers and knives. The police is also investigating the role of Deepak Sonde, gangster and husband of Shiv Sena corporator Meena Sonde. Sonde has accused Shekhar Yadav’s boss, too. Yadav, a Shiv Sena Shakha Pramukh and former councillor, had killed Rajesh Kukreja’s father Shyam alias Jadya in 1990.
“We are looking into the matter and will arrest those involved,” said Siddharth Wagh, senior inspector, Ulhasnagar-1 police station. u00a0
