Cops have recovered online messages and SMSes from his phone in which he spoke to his friends about how upset he was that the girl he was pursuing did not return his affections
A 26-year-old native of Punjab took his life by hanging himself at his Oshiwara apartment on Wednesday. According to the police, it is suspected that the deceased, identified as Raghav Narendra Singh Thakur, took the drastic step as he was depressed over unrequited love. No suicide note was recovered.

According to the Oshiwara police, Thakur, who hailed from Amritsar in Punjab, had come to the city a month ago to work with a private firm. He was living in an apartment allocated by his company at Woodland Society in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West). Three other employees of the firm Deepak Maru, Sanjay and Shafeeq lived with him.
Maru said in his statement that when he knocked on Thakur’s door on Tuesday night to call him for dinner, the latter did not respond. Assuming that he was asleep, Maru left. When Thakur did not respond on Wednesday morning either, Maru informed the police control.
Around 9 am, the door to Thakur’s room was broken and he was found hanging from the ceiling fan. API Ravindra Patil of Oshiwara police station said, “His body was sent to Cooper Hospital for a post mortem, and subsequently handed over to his family that arrived in the city later on Wednesday. Prima facie, we have recorded a case of accidental death.”
Officials said that on scanning Thakur’s cell phone, they found an outgoing text and Internet chat messages from Tuesday night, in which he was seen telling his friends that the girl he was pursuing was angry with him. He appeared unhappy that the girl had not responded to his feelings, said the police. u00a0
