Maharana Pratap Singh is widely regarded as a fearless warrior and ingenious strategist, who successfully fought the Mughals and safeguarded his people until his death. He is hailed as an inspirational figure for exemplifying gallantry and resourcefulness.
His fauous battle in 1576, at Haldighati is regarded as one of the greatest one. Pratap fought with 20,000 Rajputs against a Mughal army of 80,000 men. Though the battle was indecisive, it was a fierce one. Maharana Pratap's army was not defeated but Maharana Pratap was surrounded by Mughal soldiers. This war was also known for Pratap's famous, and loyal, horse Chetak, who gave up his life trying to save his Maharana.
