Former President and Bharat Ratna awardee Pranab Mukherjee passed away on August 12 in Delhi. He was 84. The veteran Congress leader, who was admitted to Delhi's Delhi's Army Research & Referral Hospital was on ventilator support after he underwent surgery for a brain clot.

On Monday, the 84-year-old Congress leader underwent emergency life-saving surgery for a brain clot. The former President had also tested positive for COVID-19. Taking to the micro-blogging site, Mukherjee revealed that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
"On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19," he had after testing positive. Mukherjee had also requested people who came in contact with him to self isolate and get tested for COVID-19.
