She looks like a cover girl and can make you dance to her thumping beats.

DJ Eve Carey, regarded as one of UK's top female DJs made history in 2008, when she and Miss Behavin from Charlys Angelz (an all-female DJ promotion company) were invited to play in Damascus, Syria, a first-of-sorts for any international DJ. Playing worldwide for a good 14 years, Eve is a resident DJ at the Ministry of Sound.

Now she hopes to bring the famed nightclub's vibe to the city. We say you don your hippest dancing shoes and get heady on the dance floor.

Sachin Tendulkar fans from across India have managed to pay tribute to the master blaster in a million bizarre ways. But can you imagine a flower arrangement dedicated to the batting maestro? At The Bombay Sogetsu School of Ikebana exhibition this weekend, senior Ikebana artists will display their designs that include themes like Fairy Land, Rain, Sunrays and the Master Blaster, of course. "Thirteen Ikebana artists will showcase their works at the exhibition," informs Leela Raj Kumar, director of the school and a Riji-level instructor (the highest teacher's certificate). "A few arrangements are really big, with dimensions like 10 feet high or 8 feet long, on display," she adds. Ikebana is a disciplined art form and much more creative than simply cutting and arranging flowers in a container. "Ikebana brings nature home. In our stressful lives, we often forget how important nature is," explains Kumar. At her school, students are taught this art form from 14 text-books and are required to answer theory and practical examinations at each level. Though Ikebana might be considered a rigid established form, this Japanese school has helped it evolve into a creative art form, by encouraging its practice using various materials.u00a0

Drop your inhibitions on this arty potty seat

The humble chair, a ubiquitous object that no one really throws a second glance at, has suddenly become the muse of 29 artists. At this installation art show titled Chair Exhibition, check out chairs made from wood, fiber glass, steel, aluminium and gold foil, weaving in aspects from philosophy, practical life, anatomy and emotions.

While Anuj Poddar's Third Eye refers to the awakened Ajna Chakra (location of the third eye), Bhuvanesh Gowda's De-commode, as seen in the picture, is based on the idea of a seat where ideas flourish and inhibition drops. Akshay Rajpurkar's Delusive Glamour is based on the deceptiveness of street advertising. Who would have known that sitting down on a piece of furniture is all that is required to fire a tangential thought process!

When legends light up the silver screen

Dharwad in Northern Karnataka has produced music maestros like Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal and Basavaraj Rajguru. It is also the birthplace of Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur, a legendary vocalist of the Jaipur Gharana and a winner of three Padma awards. If alive, he would've been celebrating his 100th birthday this year. To pay homage to this legend, NCPA kicks off Music Mirror -- a series of documentary films on music, commencing with one on this singer. The film is made by the Films Division and directed by Prajna Parimita Parasher. Says
Dr Suvarnalata Rao, Head Programming (Indian Music), NCPA, "A trained ear can understand sounds but, for the uninitiated, a visual provides a context from various disciplines, which helps those who want to be included and deepen their understanding of music." The films to be showcased over the coming months cover themes and personalities including Allauddin Khan, Ali Akbar Khan, Indian rhythms and folk music.
