Tragic: The driver of the four wheeler sped away after the accident

Dr R Ganesh Prasad was a neurosurgeon with the renowned Narayana Hrudayalaya for the past 10 months. Yesterday, when he was driving to his office at 7.30 am for his shift on his bike in Kormangala, a speeding four-wheeler hit him, just a kilometer away from his office.

He was behind a two-wheeler, but the biker suddenly applied brakes and to avoid running into him, the doctor slowed down. But this cost him dearly, as a silver-coloured van hit him, and he fell unconscious.

Since this happened early in the morning, there were not many people on the roads. The driver of the four-wheeler sped away after the accident, without pausing to help the grievously wounded man.u00a0

Minutes later, John, a doctor with Sparsh was driving by, and he saw Prasad lying in a pool of blood. He rushed to check his pulse rate, and found that Prasad was still alive. John immediately rang the traffic police control room and his clinic for an ambulance. But before they could arrive, Prasad had bled to death. Though John rushed him to St John's hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

u00a0Eyewitness told the police that the driver of the vehicle sped away after the incident.

KS Vasuki, Corporate General Manager, Narayana Hrudayalaya said, "It's a big tragedy, because he has a one-month-old baby, and was the sole breadwinner for the family."

He added, "The ambulance had come within 30 minutes, but they were helpless because he had died on the spot. We have complained to the police and have informed his parents. We are also approaching people if anyone took down the four-wheeler's registration number."

Electronic City Traffic Police Inspector Mallesh T said, "We are searching for car. We also approached other police stations to get the details about the killer vehicle."
