Ten-year-old Vaishnavi along with her mother Dr Vasudha Kolte, a city based health consultant, was overjoyed when an abandoned dog was rescued by fire brigade officials at around 1.20 am. However, she could not understand why the poor animal had jumped on to the window grill of a flat on the third floor of her Mantri Estate society in Salisbury Park.
u00a0Dr Kolte said, "We spotted the dog around 10 pm and immediately informed the fire brigade about it. The jawans later brought a net and managed to rescue the animal after three hours of efforts."
u00a0"Some children from the society had been teasing the dog after it entered the society premises on Monday evening. The animal ran towards the staircase in an effort to save itself and later jumped on top of the window grill of a flat located on the third floor,"
Dr Kolte added. Surprisingly none of the other residents of the society came forward to save the life of the animal, claimed Dr Kolte.
u00a0Suresh Belose, Yogesh Chorge, Rauf Shaikh, Rajesh Ghadshi, Mangesh Takle, Vasudev Alhat, Rafiq Shaikh and Ravindra Netke from the fire department successfully rescued the dog.
u00a0Belose said, "After we received the call, we rushed to the spot and tried to catch the dog. However, the window grill top had become slippery because of the rain and the dog was frightened. We brought a net and pushed the dog, which safely fell into the net."
