According to sources, Phirke was quite normal and did not look to be in any kind of anxiety or depression, before he went missing.

However, the police had a different theory to the case. Shashikant Surve, senior police inspector, JJ Marg Police station at Byculla, said, “Rs 10,000 has been withdrawn from his account and the transaction was traced to an ATM in Goa. We suspect that the doctor has taken a vacation to Goa without informing his family or friends. We expect him to return soon.”

Fearing that something untoward may have happened to Phirke, his classmates have been visiting all government and BMC run hospitals, in a bid to trace him.
