An auto driver was killed last night when his own vehicle toppled over, crushing him under it in the process.
Murali S (20), a Govinda Shetty Palya resident had dropped off a fare at Kudlu gate and was returning home in a hurry since a relative had expired around 7 pm last night.
At 8.15 pm, Murali met with an accident and died on the spot on Parappana Agrahara road near Electronic City.

A cab driver by profession, Murali was forced to drive an auto rickshaw for the past 15 days. This is because his father, an auto rickshaw driver, had fractured his leg in a minor accident 15 days ago and had told his son to use the vehicle till he recovered.
"A local saw the toppled vehicle and the driver lying on the road in a pool of blood. On checking his pockets, he found a licence with an address in the same locality. He informed the family members, and the information was passed on to the Electronic City Traffic police also," said Saiprasad, a relative.
Cops reached the spot and moved the body to the Victoria Hospital mortuary. A post mortem will be conducted in the morning. Murali's family members were inconsolable after receiving the news and more than 50 people including relatives, friends and neighbours gathered at the hospital.
While the police say that the vehicle toppled over and pinned Murali beneath it, his relatives insist that some heavy vehicle like a bus or truck had run over his head because of the severity of injuries. They said that an auto rickshaw falling on a person would not do that much damage.
A case has been registered at Electronics City Traffic Police station and an investigation will be conducted after post mortem results are received.
