Au00a0central Railways employee lost Rs 30,000 when an unidentified person used a duplicate ATM card at a cashpoint in Pimpri on Sunday.

Ambadas Krushnaji Shekdar, a resident of Panchatara Nagar in Akurdi, filed the complaint in this regard with the Pimpri police.

According to the complaint, Shekdar, employed with the Central Railways in Lonavala, has a savings account in the State Bank of India (SBI) Pimpri branch, where his salary gets deposited every month.

The money was withdrawn from his account in three transactions.

"When Shekdar enquired with the bank officials about the lost money, it was revealed that some unknown person had withdrawn money from his account on August 26 in three transactions of Rs 10,000 each," Police sub-inspector Bhaskar Muthe said. "Shekdar had saved money to buy a bike for his son. On Sunday, Shekdar went to the bank to withdraw the money he had saved, but found out that only Rs 3,000 were left in the account."

The officer said Shekdar had stated that he had not given his SBI ATM card to anyone. "The complainant said the money was withdrawn through an HDFC Bank ATM centre," Muthe said. "We are analysing the CCTV footage from the ATM centre."

He added that bank transaction details were also being investigated and a case would be registered after the gathering of evidence.
