The 24th International Food & Hospitality Fair will have the best food and wines from across the world
Nothing gets better than this for the followers of Dionysus.
The worshippers of the Greek god of wine and merry-making have a major commune lined up in the form of the 24th International Food & Hospitality Fair, to be held from March 7 to 10 at Pragati Maidan. The fair promises to be a food lover's ultimate dream-come-true.
Apart from ice-creams, chips, ready-to-eat dishes, kebabs, cookies, rice and breads, foodies will be able to indulge themselves in one of the best selected wines from across the world. However, all this will be available for the public on March 10, the last day of the event.
Organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), the annual event would also have cookery competitions, pre-plated display of special dishes and tips to make finger licking delicacies at home. The fair is third largest of its kind in the world and a showpiece event of the Indian food market that is estimated to be worth over US $ 182 billion.
Around 450 leading companies from India and abroad are expected to participate with a number of representatives from the Middle East and Europe.
This year the fair will have two separate showsu00a0Food India and Hospitality India. "This year we are organising two shows because the scale of the fair has expanded. Two seperate venues for the shows will make it easier for the buyers to target specific requirements," said Senior General Manager, Publicity, ITPO,u00a0 Safdar H Khan.
Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahay told MiD DAY: "The food expo is the third largest exhibition in this category after the ones held in Germany and Paris. With our food processing market growing at 13.7 per cent, India has become an important destination for food-related events."
Gourmet trail
The fair will be open for public on March 10, from 10 am to 6 pm. Visitors can try various culinary delights on this day. Children are not allowed on the first three days of the event.
