Man lures child and 11-yr-old friend to isolated spot with promise of work, has anal sex with younger boy; watchman hears cries for help

An eight-year-old boy was sodomised by an unidentified man at Mohan Nagar in Chinchwad on Monday. The victim and an 11-year-old friend of his were lured to a secluded spot with the promise of a quick buck for some light work, albeit illegal.

The father of the victim at first lodged a case against four unidentified accused under Sections 363 (kidnap) and 377 (unnatural sex) of the IPC at the Pimpri police station, but the complaint was later modified when the children said there was only one culprit and not four.

The two children were playing near their homes in Bijlinagar on Monday afternoon around 4.30 pm when they were approached by the culprit, said the police.

Fresh statement
The children had at first said four people came in a red tempo and allegedly kidnapped them after tying their limbs. Later, the children said they had claimed they were kidnapped as they were scared of police action if they admitted to agreeing to collect scrap, which was illegal, for the culprit.

"We have recorded a fresh statement of the complaint. The victim has also given a sketch of the suspect. The complainant has claimed that he and his friend were lured to the secluded spot with the promise of Rs 300 each if they collected scrap from there," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Dnyaneshwar Chavan, after the modifications in the complaint last evening. "Since collecting scrap was an illegal act, they were too scared to confess and lied about it earlier."

The police said the culprit took the children near the compound of a company, Telco in Mohan Nagar.

"The man then sat there consuming liquor and smoking cigarettes. After some time he tied the 11-year-old to a tree and threatened him with removing his kidney if he made attempts to break free. While he was tied to the tree, the man had anal sex with the eight-year-old boy," said a police officer. "When the kids started shouting and crying for help, a watchman who was on duty nearby came running to the spot."

Saved by watchman
The arrival of the watchman led to the man fleeing the spot and the watchman rescued the two children. He also rushed the eight-year-old to a private hospital, from where he was shifted to Sassoon hospital.

The police were informed and a team was rushed to the crime spot.

"The dog squad was roped in to track the culprit," said a police officer.

Police Sub-Inspector M B Khandale of the Pimpri police station is investigating the case further.

Doctors at Sassoon refused to divulge information about the child, who reportedly had to undergo surgery.
