Around 90 techies were collectively duped of Rs 1.5 crore by the owner of an IT firm, after he hired them through various job consultancies and collected a deposit amount from them. The owner baited them with the offer of high salaries and collected the amount and vanished.

Chinmay Kumar from Orissa started Eletrosys Solutions India situated in JB Nagar a month and a half ago, and he not only escaped with the cash collected from the techies, but has also not paid salaries to the housekeeping staff and canteen workers. Majority of the employees hail from middle class background in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. They all managed to scrape together deposit amounts ranging from Rs 80,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh to pay off Chinmay.

Reality bites
After not being paid for over a month, they began demanding their salaries, and that is when Chinmay locked up the firm and fled. The employees have filed a complaint with the JB Nagar police four days ago, following which the cops managed to detain a relative of Chinmay's, but nothing much has been done to trace the kingpin of the racket.

Serious matter
Taking serious note on this, ITEC, a city-based forum for IT professionals, met Joint Commissioner Alok Kumar yesterday seeking intervention. Kumar directed the DCP to look into the matter and take necessary action.
"Several students have taken loans to pay the deposit and they are virtually penniless and unable to sustain themselves," Jaya Kumar HS from ITEC said.

Hand in glove?
We have alleged that the consultants, who collected the deposit amounts on behalf of Chinmay, are hand in glove with the fraudulent owner. The JB Nagar police said that they have taken up the case and are investigating and currently they are in the process of tracing Chinmay.
