"The deceased, identified as Layak Ram a resident of Najafgarh, was an ex-BSF personnel. He used to give loan on interest after leaving the job. The accused Pawan Mittal, a local businessman, had taken a loan of Rs 49 lakh from him. The deceased was demanding his money back but Pawan was unable to repay his debt. Pawan then hatched a plan along with his driver Roop Chand and friend Shatrughan to murder the victim," said the DCP.

The trio stabbed him to death in Mundka area. The accused then beheaded the victim and dumped his head in Ghevra and threw his body near Jhandewalan area on June 24.

"The only clue we had was that the victim was wearing a shirt with a label of Decent Tailors, Dharampura. A search was conducted and finally the tailor, Narender Kumar, was traced in Dharampura area of Najafgarh and the victim was identified as Layak Ram," said the officer.

The victim's family told the police that he had earlier worked with the BSF. During interrogation police came to know that the deceased had given loan to Pawan Mittal who was missing from the area. Police reached Mittal's factory and came to know that his driver and his friend were also missing after the incident.

"Pawan's driver Roop Chand and his friend Shatrughan fled to Vaishno Devi while he fled to Jammu. The trio returned to Delhi on Friday morning. After reaching Old Delhi Railway Station Pawan committed suicide by consuming poisonous substances.
