Ex-law minister appears in court in black robes

Former law and justice minister Ashwani Kumar yesterday appeared before the Supreme Court as a counsel in a civil case.

He sat through the entire proceedings of the day and got relief from an apex court bench of Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Justice Madan B Lokur for his client in the case involving liquidation proceedings.

Kumar had quit last month after the Supreme Court took exception to his vetting a CBI status report on its investigations into the allocation of coal blocks.
