According to the police, the army man had devised his seven-year-old son's kidnap to fool family and relatives in coughing up Rs 7 lakh in ransom.The police discovered this through electronic surveillance of his phone.
Amit Kumar, resident of Sikandrabad, June 27 had lodged a missing complaint of his seven-year-old son Kartik, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gulab Singh said.
Kumar also told the police that he had received a phone call seeking Rs 7 lakh as ransom.
The SSP deputed a special operations group to investigate the matter and it was found that the calls from the kidnapper were being routed to victim's father.
It soon was clear that the missing boy's father had scripted the kidnap to pressurize the family and relatives into selling their land for the safe release of his son, Singh said.
The kidnappers asked the family to bring the money to Dadri railway station but due to the heavy police deployment, they dumped the boy outside a cinema hall and fled, added Singh.
The boy has been handed over to his mother.
Kumar was dismissed from the army following a murder case against him.u00a0
