FTII Row: Rathore asks FTII students to leave administrative matters to the Govt.

New Delhi: With the FTII students not backing down from their protest, Information and Broadcasting minister Rajyavardhan Rathore on Thursday, asked the students to leave the administrative matters into the hands of the government and focus on their academics.

Rathore said that Gajendra Chauhan, the chairman of the FTII society has no role in the academic aspect of the prestigious institute but only on the administrative division.

'The complaint of the FTII students is that the chairman does not inspire them. But how is that relevant when he has nothing to do with academics. We have heard the FTII society has been lacking in their administrative responsibilities and also have many audit based objections,' Rathore said here at a press conference.

'How will it look if students from all the schools and colleges start to take administrative matter into their own hands? We have been very soft and lenient towards the students. We only have their best intentions at heart,' he added.

Yesterday the FTII students accused the government of diluting the issues and shifting from the matter at hand. They said they are being 'character assassinated' by the centre. Its been 55 days since the students are protesting against the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the institute's chairman.
