During interrogation, it was revealed that the family set up a jewellery shop of their own in Ramesh Nagar area of Karol Bagh and, over a period of time, came in contact with another jeweller, Jagiri Lal. After winning his confidence following several transactions, they bought 2.5kg of gold jewellery from him and promised to pay later. They then sold off their property in Delhi and fled to Jaipur.
"They then came to Delhi, thinking the case would have settled down. On November 10, police received a tip-off that the three persons would come to Malviya Nagar Metro station. Accordingly, a trap was laid and police apprehended all three," said DCP (south) Chhaya Sharma.
