Two days after Malwani resident Tariq Jafri succumbed to dengue, his wife Shakila who has also been diagnosed with dengue was re-admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) yesterday

However, seeing no improvement in the condition of Shakila (30) and her daughter Tasneem (4), relatives opted to shift them to Nair hospital hours later. While Shakila’s condition is stable, Tasneem is critical and is on oxygen support at the ICU unit of the hospital.

Tasneem, who is also suffering from dengue, was earlier undergoing treatment at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at KDAH. Feeling that Tasneem’s condition was not improving at KDAH despite the doctors’ efforts, her relatives shifted her to the ICU unit at Nair hospital at 7.30 pm yesterday.

Momina Khan, Tasneem’s aunt, said, “Tasneem has heavy swelling of the liver and has been put on oxygen support at the ICU in Nair hospital. Her condition is said to be critical and we are praying that she recovers.” She added, “My sister-in-law Shakila has also been shifted to Nair hospital. She is currently admitted to the general ward.”

“Tasneem is in respiratory distress and also has fluid accumulation in her right chest. She is in the ICU. However, Shakila’s condition is stable,” confirmed a doctor from Nair Hospital.

Meanwhile, following Tariq’s death on Wednesday, BMC workers were seen fogging the area around MHADA colony in Malwani, Malad (West), where the Jafris reside.u00a0
