Dr Krishna S Chaudhuri, a cosmetic surgeon, said, "While it has just been three years since the surgical procedure was introduced in the city, it has grown steadily by 50 per cent a year. Such cosmetic surgeries can take off as much as 10 years of a person's face." Dr Chaudhuri added that he perform four to five surgeries a month, and his clients are mostly women between 30 to 45 years of age."
While Dr Tejinder Bhatti, another cosmetic surgeon, said, "I have been performing a surgery or two every month, but the number is growing. Interestingly, most of patients are middle-class women."
Dr Chaudhuri added, "Fat grafting does not have any side effects as the fat used for grafting is extracted from the client's body. This also makes the procedure extremely safe." A standard fat grafting surgery takes part from the surgery is affordable too as it could cost anywhere between Rs 22,000 to 35,000, and takes two to three hours for the surgery and two weeks for the incisions to heal.
Feels great
A woman who has undergone fat grafting said, "I was getting wrinkles because of work pressure and a bad lifestyle. After the surgery, I am looking much younger which makes me feel better."
Dr Vishwanath Jigjinni, a plastic surgeon, who has been practicing in the city for the last 10 years, operated on about 15 women every year. "There are no side effects involved in fat grafting, except for occasional swelling."
