Shree Lahiri figures out the reason why members of Western India Chartered Accountant Students Association are so fascinated with numbers
If you thought accountancy was a drab, unexciting profession, think again! The Western India Chartered Accountant Students Association (WICASA) is a platform provided by Institute of Charted Accountants of India to students to interact informally.
The Pune chapter of the association was inactive for the last 10 years till a student Anshul Agarwal (21) kick-started a rejuvenation drive a few months ago, which bolstered membership by 1,000 members.
"Our aim is to address problems of CA students, and provide them with opportunities to participate in activities beyond studies," said Agarwal. "I really wanted to go for the Lonavla trip organised by WICASA, but had to give it a miss because I had prior commitments. I find events like the recent interaction organized by the WICASA with the chairman of the Board of Studies a great help," says Pooja Kukreja (19), a member of the organisation.
Said Nikunj Agarwal (20), another member, "I faced a lot of problems getting my articleship transferred.
However, after contacting Anshul, it was done in just two weeks!"
The chairman of WICASA, Vineet Deo (35), said he has no role in the association beyond guiding.
