Led by animator Dattatreya S Pattar, a team of five has created a film, a mix of animation and sound bites, to create awareness on the H1N1 virus, its spread and methods to check it.

Aimed at different age groups, mainly children, the short film of over five minutes uses animations of doctors, patients, animals, birds and humans.

Inspiration

"It all started when we saw scared Bangaloreans rushing to hospitals," said Pattar. "We need not be that scared. To convey that message to Bangaloreans, we decided to create the short film."

Hand in hand

Renowned doctors including Dr Sreenivas Murthy from Wockhardt, Dr Sheela V Maney and Dr Shashidhar have offered sound bites and so have politicians including Assembly speaker Jagadish Shettar and health minister B Sriramulu. B H Vijay Prasad and Manjunath Shettar also helped Dattatreya with the film.

The team completed the film in about 10 days and is now distributing it in schools and hospitals and screening it in public places.

"This film will help us check unnecessary fear," said Radha Krishna Y R, a scientist who helped Dattatreya. "Our team will carry out many such initiatives to create awareness. This is the first."
