Furniture shop in Dilshad Garden goes up in flames, no casualties reported

A major fire broke out in a sealed furniture shop behind Dihshad Garden Metro Station late on Wednesday night. According to fire brigade official the incident was reported from the first floor of a building at around 1:30 am.

"We sent six fire engines to the spot after receiving information. A thick cloud of black smoke had started emanating at around 1:20 am from the shop on the first floor of the building, which was noticed by neighbours.

After few minutes when they saw the blaze they called us up. Six fire tenders which were pressed into service took half an hour to douse the flames," said a fire brigade official.

The officer said that according to their information the furniture shop had got sealed during a drive by the MCD in the Capital and since then it had remained closed. No casualties were reported in the incident while the whole shop was gutted in the blaze.
