In a bizarre incident in the Capital, the director of an entertainment company was allegedly thrashed by its chairman, and threatened of rape, when she demanded her due salary.

The victim, Jennifer (name changed on request), is a resident of Greater Kailash and has been working as director with an entertainment company situated in Malviya Nagar.
The accused, identified as Bharat Kumar Bharmer, has been arrested. A senior police official confirmed the incident and said an FIR in this regard has been lodged under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 509 (outraging the modesty of a woman), following the complaint by the victim.
The entertainment company concerned has organised many Bollywood-related programs in the Capital. "Jennifer was not given her salary for the last month. When she complained to Bharmer, he gave her a cheque of Rs 25,000. The cheque, however, bounced.
Jennifer then approached him again. This time Bharmer threatened her of dire consequences and asked her to go home. Tempers flared and Bharmer ended up beating the victim. He smashed her head against the wall and threatened her of rape," said the police.
The frightened victim then called her family and police. She was immediately taken to the AIIMS trauma centre. "She has injuries on arms and head," said the police.
Two incidents of rape
Two separate incidents of rape were reported in Delhi yesterday. In the first, a 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 35-year-old handicapped widow in Chandni Mahal area of central Delhi. According to police, the accused has been identified as Rajesh, who works in a private company in Gurgaon. "The incident took place on November 21, when the victim was alone in the house. The accused, a neighbour, barged in and allegedly raped her," said the police. In another incident, a 25-year-old man was arrested for allegedly drugging and raping a 21-year-old woman in Sultanpuri area of outer Delhi. According to police, the accused has been identified as Harish, a resident of Mangolpuri area and works in a BPO in Gurgaon. "The victim is a BA final year student. On October 22, Harish, whom the victim had met a few days ago, called her for a meeting in Prashant Vihar from where he took her to his flat and offered her soft drinks laced with sedatives. The accused shot some obscene pictures of her, which he later used to blackmail and rape her," said a police officer.
