The accused were caught red-handed while operating out of a shop in Vyyalikaval. They had placed bets and collected money from people for the match between Kolkata Raiders and Mumbai Indians played recently.
The police seized cash Rs 22,000, six mobile phones and other materials worth Rs 1 lakh from them at the time of their arrest.
Assistant Commissioner of Police B N Nyama Gowda said that V Ram (28), M Srinivas (44), Pramod (30), Raghu (24), and Rajiv (38), were running the racket since the commencement of the IPL matches and had already cheated many people during an earlier tournament.
The racket came to light when one victim, who had placed bets earlier, complained that the group was refusing to part with the winnings.
