Members of 10 outstation teams in association with Surendra Anand Memorial Tournament will plant around 1,000 saplings in the next five days to promote the message of environment conservation.

The concept of asking the players to take a lead in planting trees is the brainchild of Manish Anand, the organiser of the event and vice president of the Khadki Cantonment Board.
"I'm extremely happy that players from all over the country accepted our request to participate in the noble cause," Anand said. He added that over 1,000 trees will be planted in several schools, gardens and open plots in Khadki area by the players.
Also, the players who had already planted the saplings yesterday said that that they would come and see the trees next year when they come again to participate in the tournament.
