Cops take suo moto action against accused, as parents of victims unwilling to lodge complaint

Four men were arrested for allegedly sodomising three minors for the past one year at an isolated farmhouse in Alandi. The matter came to light after local residents informed the police that some local youth often took these school-going kids to the farmhouse and indulged in unnatural sex with them. Assistant police inspector Bapurao Deshmukh said, "After recording the statement of the victims when we approached their parents, none of them came forward to lodge a complaint, apparently because of the clout the accused have in the area.

Then we took a suo moto cognisance of the incident and registered a case against six persons under Section 377 (unnatural sex) of IPC." He added that the victims confided in the police that six men from Dattanagar area have been sodomising them for the past one year. The accused have been identified as Ganesh Digambar Wavare (21), Mayur Dnayneshwar Pardhe (19), Sagar Baburao Khedkar (21) and Anant Vitthal Kamble (21), all residents of Alandi.

The police have also booked their two accomplices, who are on the run. The victims, aged between 10 and 15, have told the police that they were threatened of dire consequences if they narrated their ordeal to anyone. API Deshmukh said the arrested four were produced before the Khed court and remanded in police custody till June 17.
