Italian-born singer and former model Carla Bruni, looked quite a sight for sore eyes as she alighted in a peach knee-length dress with a half-sleeved matching cardigan and pointed black pumps. Bruni, who has made it to Vanity Fair magazine's International Best Dressed List third year in a row, sported girlie bangs, with open hair and a plum handbag.

Sarkozy looked razor sharp in a dark suit, paired with a crisp white shirt and a conservative black tie. The first lady later changed her light travelling outfit for a more conservative black skirt suit when she accompanied her husband to the ISRO conference later in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Sunday Mid-Day asked top fashion designers to decode the svelte couple's style sense. "Carla is an epitome of elegance in this outfit. It is an apt outfit for a day of travel. Sarkozy's suave ensemble offsets her style," said Rocky S.

Sanchita Ajjampur said that Carla's "of late demure style" has elicited comparisons to Jackie O and Lady Di. "Sarkozy has kept his look smart and simple with a finely made dark suit, crisp white shirt and camera-friendly dark tie."

However, Prasad Bidapa believed otherwise. "As a couple, I'm not sure they work. She is impeccable. The less said about the man the better."u00a0
