Even as a kid, designer Sonya Vajifdar's sense of style made sure she stood out among other kids. Using her imagination and flair to create different looks and putting a unique outfit together came naturally to her.

It was not surprising then that after graduating, she decided to head to Milan any prospective designer's dream destination, where she spent three years at the Istituto Europeo de Design.

After graduating in Fashion and Textile Design, Sonya returned to her favourite Indian city, Mumbai, to fulfill her dream of becoming a fashion designer.

She briefly worked with fashion designer Nalandda Bhandari, assisting her with her Spring/Summer Collection 2009 for Bridal Asia (Delhi), and Lakme Fashion Week (Mumbai) and gained hands-on experience.u00a0

Soon, she did what she always wanted to launch her label. She designs for both, men and women.

As a designer, her first break came when she was selected to design dresses and gowns for the contestants of the May Queen Ball held at Rustom Baug, Byculla, on May 1, in a span of just 10 days.

Sonya is now working on her new line as well as taking orders.
