In a case of mistaken identity, man and his sister taken into custody at gunpoint by Delhi police while they were on their way to a wedding
Sunday afternoon proved to be an eventful one for Madhur and his family. The young man and his relatives were on their way to attend a wedding when he and his sister were allegedly taken into custody at gunpoint by cops in northwest Delhi.
Bumpy ride: Madhur was taken into custody after cops saw him riding a
grey Bajaj Pulsar and mistook him for a certain bike-borne robber.
DCP of northwest Delhi, Meenu Chaudhary said that she will look into the matter as she wasn't aware of the incident.
A police source posted with northwest district said the youth identified as Madhur was brought at Mahindra Park Police station by cops when he was going to attend a marriage function. Madhur's family members had made a PCR call that men who were in police uniform intercepted their car and took Madhur along at gunpoint.
"They came in a green car bearing number plate DL3C6225 and took us into custody. They took Madhur along. When we asked them to produce a warrant they demanded we come to Mahindra Park Police station pointing a pistol at the forehead of a girl from Madhur's family," said police source, quoting the PCR call.

It was a case of mistaken identity. A woman was allegedly robbed of her valuables by bikers in Mahindra Park area. The assailants were travelling on a grey bike. "Madhur was detained only because he also has a grey Pulsar bike. The cops thought that Madhur could be behind the incident but later on they set him free after they found him to be innocent," said the police source. |
