Life doesn't always give everyone a second chance and if it does, one has to make the most of it. One living example is starlet Monica Bedi, who made a comeback into the entertainment industry, with the dance show Jhalak Dikhla Ja and the reality show Bigg Boss Season 2. She's now busy crooning. "Ek Onkaar is my spiritual offering to God. Itu00a0 conveys my firm faith that has helped me through the ups and downs in my life," she says.
Ek Onkaar, she explains, is a phrase borrowed from the Guru Granth Sahib. "I have said the prayer in different ways. I sat with the Raagiji (lead singer in a gurudwara) and learnt the verses and hymns from him. The recording was done in two days."
When and how did she think of such an intense subject for a music album? "I've had the sanskaars from my childhood. But to be honest only during tough times, or when you are helpless do you try to reach out to the Almighty and get close to Him. I was going through a tough time, when I started reading God's words and His holy books, and I got answers for many questions. Everyone knows what happened to me, but what kept me going was my faith. It gave me a lot of strength. Faith is all what God wants from us. It took me almost five years to come out of my problems. I was in a mess, but I kept the faith. I request everyone to keep the faith as it can move mountains. After my trial was over, I was relieved. My parents always taught me to learn from my experiences and now I have moved on with my life.
"Everyone makes mistakes in life, but it's how you learn from it and emerge out of it. One should not expect too much," she avers.
Is there also a music video being planned? "We have done a promo shoot album. Right now it's just the audio, but later we will do a video also. I have already got a tremendous response at the audio release," says Monica.
"I have not been trained in music. I'm not a singer, but this is not hard-core singing. You just have to be in sync with the music. But one thing I was very conscious of was to say the words correctly."
So what's next? "I am doing a reality show, which is going to be aired soon. I'm doing a film in September, but cannot disclose more on the film. Right now I'm busy with a lot of performances and shows, which involves travelling to different cities."
