"Mumbai as a city is very unfriendly to dogs. I think we need a space where we can take our dogs for a day out and the carnival is just the place for that," says publisher Farzana Contractor, who brings the second edition of Dog A'fair to the city. The success of the carnival's first edition at Radio Club, Colaba, spurred Farzana's team to conduct one in the "north". Dog A'fair thus comes to Taj Land's End, Bandra this weekend.
There will be all sorts of ways to have fun with your canine friends including a portrait stall where you can get a portrait of your dog and a photographer's stall where you can get a picture of yourself and your pets shot by a professional photographer. The carnival will also have a tarot reader for your pet. "The tarot reader was very popular last time. Many people came to us saying our pet has changed because of what we learnt from the reading," Farzana says. An adoption pound, where you can adopt a pet for free and a Dogimonial, where you can get your pets registered for breeding, are other highlights of the carnival.u00a0
Farzana, who owns two Lhasa Apsos called Inshy and Tasha, believes it's a lovely feeling to have pets. "Pet dogs teach one to love and be compassionate. So more dog owners would probably mean a better city," Farzana signs off.
